Artwork for Derby Frontier’s New Logo!

Written by Kevin Dennison

After 2-and-a-half years of utilizing the current, fantastic Derby Frontier logo designed by my good friend and just all round awesome individual Victoria Morningstar, aka “Margie A Go-Go”, I felt it was time to change it up a bit. The blog has evolved as much as the sport itself has and it is now in a place that is very different than were it has been in years past. Those who have been following the blog since it started in July of 2012 have seen it evolve from a small provincial resource focused on roller derby in Saskatchewan, Canada, into the blog it is now with heavy focus on the culture, community, and social activism surrounding the sport in communities all around the world.

So, it just felt like it was time to have something new that really encompassed what the blog has become. Lucky for me, my life partner loves designing logos! Behold, Derby Frontier’s new logo, designed and drawn by hand by Falon Dennison, aka “EZ Brusier”!

I LOVE it! Like, every part of it. Seriously. It’s fabulous and queer and derby and awesome all at the same time! Next step will be getting the logo digitized, which I will be doing within the next couple of weeks. I’ll also be doing a big blog upgrade which will make it all super pretty and rad for the new year (and the upcoming Trans*Awareness in Sports Week event)! Needless to say, you can expect to see lots of changes to how things look around here over the next month but rest assured that the blog itself will not be going offline while it is happening.

So, what do all of you think of the new logo digs? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I like it however I don’t think that it represents what roller derby has evolved into. Maybe rec derby but not competitive derby.
